All the action of the Auction
April 17th 2016 was the most successful poultry auction held in the last ten years of the club. About 250 people attended and there was 235 lots available, which consisted of large and bantam poultry of all varieties, turkeys, guinea fowl, finches and waterfowl.
In the absent of our resident auctioneer Jim Hanley, Ron Chitick took over his roll with great expertise bringing the top dollar of $280 for a pair of Plymouth Rock Pullets own by Ian Campbell. Prices were consistent throughout the auction with a pair of Black Pekin Pullets owned by H & D McKenzie which revealed $255. The club's junior auctioneer, Matthew Savin excelled himself by selling the last thirty or so lots at the end of the auction.
Canteen and office worker were kept busy all day, while the stewards released the birds during the auction.
The next Northern Rivers Poultry Auction will be held on 16 April 2017.
