2015 News

2015 proved to be a very busy year for the club.

Bob Fowler was honoured with a testimonial show, so it was a motivation for the club committee to up-grade the poultry pavilion by concreting the entire floor. The asphalt had served it's time and after two week-ends of toiling, several truck loads of cement, many barrow loads and 10-12 hard working men and about $7000 later the floor became a reality.

Thanks guys, what a difference it made to the pavilion, and a job well done!

So the testimonial for Bob Fowler went on, and leghorns were a feature as they are one of the breeds Bob shows and breeds. About 460 birds were penned and unfortunately for Bob, H & D McKenzie stole the Champion Leghorn of the Show with their winning Black Leghorn Cockerel Bantam. Graham and Brendan Sharpe from Tamworth, Jim Brown and Geoff Hines from Uralla were the judges.

That evening a very enjoyable 'pig-on-the-spit' dinner was celebrated with 86 family and friends and poultry colleagues. In a very unique setting of poultry memorabilia, Jim Hanley acted as MC for the evening and Jim Brown who was one of the judges earlier, gave a recitation of his poetry and thoroughly entertained the crowd. Bob's brother, John, played guitar and sang humorous songs to the delight of those present.

On behalf of the club, senior life members, Hec McKenzie and Bevan Burnham presented Bob with a Testimonial Plaque which he received with great pride.
